Some foods are delicious wonder foods – naturally low in cholesterol and delicious. Some foods can even help to lower cholesterol. Here are some of the goodies:
Salmon is delicious. Bake it in a paper parcel or enjoy it as fresh sushi or sashimi. Yum. Other good fishes include tuna, rainbow trout, anchovies (blergh!), herring, sardines and mackerel. I might stick to salmon 😉
Eating oats helps to lower cholesterol. Starting your day with a bowl of oats, some skim milk, and a dash of honey might be the way to go to get that cholesterol down.
Avocados are a great source of monounsaturated fat, which ay help to raise good cholesterol. Delicious and healthy. Mmm.
Fruit and veg
This is a bit of a no-brainer. Load up on fruit and veg to keep that cholesterol down. Beans, apples and carrots are packed full of fibre and help lower cholesterol. Spinach is also excellent for your cholesterol levels.
Beans are a wonderful, healthy, fibre rich food. Kidney, pinto, black, chickpea, butter beans. The great thing about beans is you can keep a stack of tins stocked in the pantry. Avoid refried beans, they pack a cholesterol punch. Give them a good rinse too to avoid some of the high-sodium liquid.
